Munich, Germany, December 2023 - ALPS ALPINE EUROPE GmbH is proud to announce the launch of Lykaner N5, the latest addition to our asset tracker portfolio, our new device based on Narrowband Internet of Things (NB-IoT).

European leader in the asset tracking market, Alps Alpine has been one of the early adopters of the LPWAN Sigfox technology and has developed and commercialized devices since early 2018.

Despite the continuous growth of Sigfox technology our observation on the recent evolutions in LPWAN technologies and trends on the NB-IoT technology adoption for industrial asset tracking has been the motivation for the technology diversification in our asset tracking portfolio. Moreover with more than 1 million connected devices in the field across Europe and overseas, we know by experience that the usage of another communication protocol such as NB-IoT for asset tracking is needed for specific use cases and also in regions where no Sigfox coverage is available, like the UK or the USA.

With NB-IoT technology coverage growing very fast and the cellular network providers' support all over the globe, we are confident that Lykaner N5 will enable us to engage customers in regions where there is little to no Sigfox coverage. The Lykaner N5, a sibling to the best-selling Lykaner 5, maintains the same reliability, long lifetime commitment and versatility, whilst offering an updated modular design for various types of environments and assets, as well as well known features such as our patented smart motion algorithm TRUMI®, orientation detection and data integrity.

Moreover, Lykaner N5 harnesses the power of NB-IoT technology - robust and stable connectivity - facilitating the over-the-air firmware update that happens seamlessly using our Alps Alpine Connect platform for continuous improvement of the product features even in the field.
